A healthy alternative to smudge burning, this Palo Santo ritual body oil is made of herbs, roots and resins that have been used throughout history for spiritual purification and energy cleansing. There are NO essential oils in this formula. I took the raw resins and painstakingly did the proper process of extracting their properties into the oil and then separately infused the herbs + roots in the traditional slow extraction process, resulting in a superior therapeutic product. The smell is ritual like; woodsy, earthy, and floral.
Use it as a moisturizing oil after a shower, as a massage oil, a ritual oil, or to help with skin issues.
INGREDIENTS AND THEIR FUNCTIONS:
PALO SANTO: (Sustainably sourced from fallen limbs in Peru where the trees are left to live and die naturally; only after the dead wood has been lying down for several years is it taken away for use and collected by the native communities who own the land where the Palo Santo tree grows)
Next to sage, Palo Santo is perhaps one of the most well known energy cleansers in the world. It not only rids the air of bacteria when it is burned, but it can also do this for your skin because it has antiseptic and antioxidant qualities that are beneficial for the skin, very much like helichrysum or tea tree oil. It can also provide pain relief for arthritis and joint pain with its anti-inflammatory properties.
Palo santo contains high concentrations of a compound called d-limonene, which is thought to aid in the prevention of a variety of cancers through various studies.
APPALACHIAN COPAL RESIN: Copal is another famous negative clearing agent. It is stimulating yet calming at the same time and can be very centering. Medicinally for the skin, it is known for its tissue repairing, anti-inflammatory, antibiotic, and anti-fungal properties. It can be used for almost any skin condition: Eczema, psoriasis, insect bites and stings, minor cuts, burns, scrapes, rashes, and even acne.
FRANKINCENSE RESIN: Oh Frank, you cease to fail us. Perhaps the oldest form of incense (it's name literally translates to 'high quality incense') and clearing energy, Frankincense is also an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and holds anti-fungal properties. Farnesol is the component in this resin that aids in anti aging by smoothing the look of wrinkles and increasing skin’s elasticity. Also soothes inflamed skin by reducing the sensations of redness, swelling, and itching. It is believed to reduce feelings of anxiety too.
MUGWORT: Chinese medicine has long used burning mugwort in a process called moxibustion, where a stick of mugwort is burnt over certain pressure points to restore proper flow. Burnt in a ceremonial sense, it can clear a space and open your third eye a little. Mugwort is used mainly as a medicinal herb for its antibacterial, antifungal and protective skin properties. It’s used in traditional baths for its detoxifying properties. I also use this in my Joint Juice formula! One of my favorite plant friends to work with.
LAVENDER: Used for protection, purification and also for love. Lavender brings a positive energy, opens the heart chakra and calms the mind. A powerful anti inflammatory, antiseptic and antibacterial for the skin.
REHMANNIA ROOT: One of the most important roots used in TCM, Rehamannia (also known as Chinese Foxglove) is a powerful blood tonic and lymph mover. I included it in this formula as a smudging root to clear out excessive negative heat on the skin and to balance YIN deficiency. It's deep,dark and smells deliciously earthy.
All the above plants are infused in organic oils of Almond, Avocado and Safflower (the best oil for anti-inflammatory properties). 4 oz.
